ELIGIBILITY for Fort Benning Schools requires families to reside on the installation in permanent family housing. See DDESS Eligibility. (pdf file)

All registrations will take place at the assigned neighborhood school. If families have children in more than one of the Fort Benning Schools, it will be necessary for Sponsors to register at each school.

Age Requirements for Students Entering School for the First Time (Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten):

1-Preschool students eligible for special education services must be 3 years old
2-Students entering Pre-K must be 4 years old on or before September 1st
3-Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 1st
4-Also, students entering 1st Grade, who did not attend Kindergarten, must be 6 years old on or before September 1st Required

Early Childhood Entrance Age Change for SY2009-2010!

Documents for Enrollment:
1-Lease Agreement OR Memorandum from Housing Office verifying permanent family housing assignment within 180 days
2-Current Orders for verification of Active Duty Status
3-Student’s original birth certificate or certified copy (Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten students will not be registered without verification of date of birth)
4-Previous school records and/or previous school’s mailing address
Georgia Certificate of Immunization and any additional immunizations required by DoDEA (must be on file in the nurse’s office within 10 days of starting school). Certificates are available at Martin Army Community Hospital.
5-Students entering school for the first time (Preschool, Pre-K, Kindergarten) will also need an Eye, Ear, and Dental Examination (must be on file in the nurse’s office within 10 days of starting school). Exams available at Martin Army Community Hospital.
Preschool Children ages three and four years with developmental delays, physical disabilities, or speech-language problems may be eligible for special education services. You may contact the Special Education Office at 706.545.5520 if you are concerned about your preschooler. For infants and toddlers, ages 0-2, you may contact Educational and Developmental Intervention Services at 706.545.3835.
High School students residing on the installation (Grades 9-12) will attend local county high schools. These links are provided for your assistance:

To obtain this distinguished honor, the Fort Benning community demonstrated that it is truly one of partnership throughout. The Fort Benning Schools are a very integral part of this partnership. Building futures in a supportive community of learners, we offer a quality education to dependents of military members from prekindergarten through eighth grade. High school students attend local county high schools.

Sponsors of students transferring to the Fort Benning Schools are required to complete DoDEA School Registration Form 600, provide verification of active duty status, and proof of on-post residency before a child may be registered. Preschool, Pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten require a certified birth certificate before registration can be accepted. You'll find many of your questions answered here at our website, and if you are fortunate enough to know your street name or housing area, you may visit your school site and get to know your new community of educators as well as all the exciting programs available at each location.
