Meet Our Principal

Mr. Charles E. Yahres is a 29-year veteran of the Department of Defense school system and is completing his seventh year as the principal of the Lakenheath Elementary School on RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom.    In 1987, Mr. Yahres received his first administrative assignment as the deputy assistant principal of the Heidelberg Middle School.  His other administrator assignments have been in Germany, Bermuda,  Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Yokosuka, Japan, Yokota Air Base, Japan and Lakenheath Elementary in London, England.  He’s worked as a school administrator with all branches of the military and served as the school complex coordinating principal at both Yokota and Lakenheath.

In 1989, Mr. Yahres was selected for Who’s Who in American Education.  He was awarded Life Memberships by both the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, and the European Congress of American Parents, Teachers and Students in recognition of his devoted and distinguished services to children and youth.  He’s a member of several professional and service organizations, including Phi Delta Kappa, the Association of Supervision, Curriculum Development and Compassion International.

An active member of community chapel programs since 1980, Mr. Yahres has served as a parish council president, choir member, usher, lay reader, guest speaker and Sunday school teacher. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, traveling, finding good restaurants and following his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams.  He and his wife Carmella have two sons Matthew, 25, and Conner 12.  He and his family are delighted with his assignment to the Charles F. Bolden Elementary/Middle School.
