Clubs & Activities

School Band & Chorus

Bolden Elementary/Middle School students are provided with the opportunity to join the school band and chorus. The band and chorus is offered as an extension to the general music program. Rehearsals for both of these groups are held before and after school. Band is only offered to fifth through eighth grade students, and chorus is offered to all students. These two groups perform twice during the school year.

Junior Leadership

Junior Leadership is a program for students in all grades. Students are recommended by their teachers based on their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Leadership students show good character and are responsible and dependable. Service projects include: clean up activities; making cards at holiday time for nursing homes; supporting child abuse centers; supporting deployed military; conducting an annual canned food and toy drive; assisting the PTO with fund raisers such as Tsunami and hurricane relief; and weekly paper recycling.

Fifth and sixth grade students read to the students at the primary school and the child developmental center. The sixth grade students help with the computer lab. All our students work together to host a celebration for our school volunteers each year. Our students are always up for new challenges and ways to contribute to their community.

For more information on where and when these activities meet, please contact your child’s teacher or the main office.

Sign Language Club

The Sign Language Club is an afterschool club that students join in order to learn sign language interpretation. Students learn a song in sign language and then perform the song as part of the winter and spring programs along with the band and the chorus.

Technology Club

The Bolden Technology Club offers students hands-on activities and skills to increase knowledge, apply in assignments and projects, & to foster an interest in computer technology. Our goal is to provide our students with technical skills that encourage creativity and originality.

Troubleshooting

Interested fifth and sixth grade students meet for 45 minutes after school once a week. Due to popular demand, the club was divided into 2 sections with two different instructors. One group focuses more on digital photography and video while the second group focuses on computer skills to include the use of Internet websites and learning new creativity software. These groups will switch focus mid-year so all students will receive instruction in both areas.
