Physical EducationThe third grade ended their gymnastic unit by going on a field trip to the Sports Academy Gymnastic center. Students had a great time not only demonstrating skills they learned during the unit but also exploring new skills that they learning at the Sports Academy. The class was organized so that students had a proper warm up before heading off to their assigned stations. The stations included front and back rolls, cartwheels, the vault, the balance beam, the rings, the bars and the tumble track. Students enjoyed all the stations but the tumble track was at the top of their list.A few standards learned during the gymnastics unit were:
The fourth grade ended![]() their line dancing unit with a country and western Hoe Down. Each class performed one of the four dances learned during the unit up on the stage while the rest of the classes joined in on the main floor. The dances that were performed were the Black Velvet, Cowboy Boogie, Tennessee Twister and Tumbleweed.Many students became familiar with country and western music for the first time. Students learned to appreciate different types of music and self-expression. Each student mastered the technique of counting rhythmic phrases. Students enjoyed dance not only as an art form but also as a way to feel good physically, to be stimulated mentally, and to develop self-esteem.
