Second Grade

We focus on problem-solving and inquiry in all subject areas. We observe and wonder about plants and animals when we visit our nature trail or while engaged in other science activities. In math we play games that require us to try new strategies. During reading workshop we read independently or with partners and practice strategies to become better readers. We share books and ideas as well during book clubs. We also share ideas and suggestions with each other during writing workshop when we listen to each other's writing. Most important is the problem-solving we use each day to make our classrooms joyful learning communities.
