What We Learn in Third Grade
Are ready for a great year in third grade? Reading, writing, and arithmetic are the name of the game with a big dose of technology along the way! Field trips, school plays, learning a bit of French are some of the fun things we do. We work hard in third grade but the best part of it all is that by the end of the year... you will be able to say… “I’ve worked hard and I am proud of myself!”
We love to read in Mrs. C's class! We even have Reading Buddies from first grade to read with. It's fun being a student helper.
In math we learn about place value, math facts, word problems and geometry concepts. We learn lots of math facts in third grade.
We live close to Jamestown so we get to go and see how the colonists lived with the Powhatan Indians. We get to try on their clothes. We get to go on a ship! We get to see the Jamestown fort. We get to see an Indian village. Learning about the Native Americans is really a favorite of ours. It's neat to imagine what it was like back then!
We learn about the water cycle, weather, and climate. We learn about the layers of the earth and about how we can protect our environment! We like learning about Earth, this wonderful planet of ours!
We learn to keyboard in third grade. We practice
good fingering techniques to reinforce the correct method. Keep your fingers on the home row keys!
