Guidance Services at Dahlgren School include individual and small group counseling for school related issues such as behavior management, study skills, making and keeping friends and organizing work. Also covered are themes such as study skills, conflict resolution, self-awareness and careers.
Standardized group testing is facilitated through the Guidance Office. Students are tested in the Spring with the CTBS TerraNova Tests of Achievement which measures what they have learned. Other standardized tests include the Balanced Assessment in Mathematics and the Communication Arts Performance Assessment; both tests are administered to fourth and eighth grades.
Resources for parents include a library of magazines, books and tapes which are kept in the guidance room. Educational sessions for parents are provided on a regular basis to supplement classroom instruction.
