Third Grade

When I was in third grade I had a party that was so much fun that I thought I would tell you about it. You had to bring in a present with out your name on it so the person who pick it out you do not know who it is. When the person who got it opened it up she or he might say wow! Now do you think that is the best day of third grade? A.F

Hi, I'm going to tell you about READ 180. Read 180 is a good program. I'm in Read 180. Read 180 is a program that helps me read. Since I've been in Read 180 I have gone from a 400 to 600+ lexile. Now does that amaze you? Boy that does amaze me. I think I forgot to tell you my Read 180 teachers are Mrs. N. and Mrs.W. They are the best reading teachers you can ever have. My Favorite Things About Third Grade - T.B.

Do you want to know my three favorite things about third grade? Well look here.

•  First are my friends, PS, EJ, SR, DS, and MG. They are kind, smart, funny, fit, healthy, and wise. Those are the reasons why I picked them as my friends.

•  Second is the Science, I love science because it has many things to explore. Say you want to know how to make light. The science book told me how to just do that. You also can do awesome experiments.

•  Third is typing on the computers it is fun because you can go on websites, play games, search. For example, if I went on the computer and had a problem I'd go to a website where it will help me find an answer. Yes I found my answer 89+66=155. See you later.

Third Grade - M.L.

My teacher is nice her name is Mrs. C. She is really nice. Mrs. C's class always was the class of the quarter for Reading Counts except one quarter. We read a lot in this class and we always have a competition on who can read the most during the weekends and weeks and then we get to go to the prize box. In 3rd grade we get homework passes for instance if we get 100 points in Reading Counts then we get a homework pass to use one time and if we get 200 points then we get to use it two times and it goes on and on. At the end of the school year we get a pool party at the base pool. In the middle of the year we get Christmas parties and Halloween parties and Valentine's parties. So that is about our third grade class!!!

In French you have to make a weird feeling in your throat and it tickles. I did not learn this in third grade, but a French girl looks like a royal person. French girls like to eat soup and spaghetti and probably French bread and butter. A French girl would probably like to drink tea, coffee, juice, water, or milk. A French girl could live in Paris . A French girl could have a poodle dog for a pet or another kind of dog. French girls get to see the Eiffel Tower and probably meet famous people that live where they live. French girls might talk like this.Bonjour. Now I will tell you why I picked to write about French. I wrote about this because I like French and I have wanted to meet a French girl before. So I just told you about a French girl.

When I was in third grade we had specials. The best special is gym. We get to play dodge ball, baseball soccer, basketball, volley ball, and much more. The other thing we get to do is play outside. My favorite game is soccer. Sometimes we argue too much but at the end of gym we are all happy. Today which is June 8 th 2006; we got to play outside for a little while. Well that is my favorite thing in third grade .specials.

What I learned in third grade was about Jamestown . I learned that Indians lived there first. Then the British were on their ship to come to this place were the Indians lived at. The British brought three ships. It was a long trip. It was hard for them to travel so far. They started to like this place so they built a place called Jamestown . Until the Indians found out that the British were making their own little area to live in. They had some gold. But it was not real gold it was fools gold. They came to Jamestown because they thought that they will find some gold and some food. They Indians did not like the British because they thought that they were going to take over the land that they lived in. But of course John Smith was there when it all happened. And Pocahontas was there. Pocahontas got married to John Rolfe. They had a child that was named Thomas. They moved to England . They lived happily ever after. Well that is another thing that I learned about third grade.

What I learned in third grade is how to read chapter books and do RC quizzes. This is how you do it. First you have to have a computer. You go to RC Quizzes. After that you type your name. So I would type in P. Then you hit enter. Hit enter again. They are going to ask you for your password. So then you do type your password in then hit enter. If you have to take a quiz go to something that says something about taking a quiz. So then hit that button. When you get to this thing that said about typing in your book you are ready to take a quiz on. Type the first word of your book. Hit enter. Then you are going to get some things that start with the first word you typed in for your book. After you find the title of your book you are going to hit enter. Hit a thing that says go. When you hit the go button you start a quiz. They give you ten questions. After the quiz is done they show your score. If you get seven up to ten questions right you passed. If is six and under you did not pass. When you are done checking your score they ask you if you want to print. I say yes and you should too. Then you get to see how many points you have. The more quizzes you take and pass them the more quickly you are going to get one thousand points. Well that is another thing I learned in third grade. My teacher:

Hi my name is K and I'm going to tell you about my teacher. My teacher's name is Mrs. C. Her birthday is on the 2nd of September. She is very nice and she is very friendly. Every day we say good-bye to her after school. Sometimes she lets us do activities in our classroom. She also lets us read to the first-graders on Friday. Before I came to this class I was scared because everybody would say that Mrs. C was very mean. Now I know that she is not mean because I'm in her class. I also learned that it doesn't matter what other people say because Mrs. C is very nice.

What I like about the third-grade is that we get to have parties. My favorite party was the Christmas party because we got to exchange gift. When we were to go get our presents we had to pick a number to see what order we would go in. For my gift I got some make-up. It was from AP. I know that because she told me so. To know which one was a girls and which one is a boys was that it had boy or girl on it. Of course there were more girls' presents than boys presents because there are 9 girls and 2 boys. TJ said that it was just like ML to grab the biggest present. The biggest one was the one that I bought.

Another thing I liked about the third-grade was learning about the solar system. I learned that recently an astronaut found water on the moon. We read tons of books about the solar system. Did you know that there are nine planets in our solar system? The closest planet to the sun is mercury. These are the planets in order. First there is Mercury, then Venus, then Earth, then Mars, then Jupiter, then Saturn, then Uranus, then Neptune, and Pluto. Did you know that Saturn's rings are made of ice, rock, and dust? Cool, huh?

The Best Part of Third Grade - S.R.

My favorite part of third grade is all the field trips and all the history lessons. In the field trips we had to get up a 6:00 in the morning. We all had to be there at 7:00 and the bus left at 7:30. We were all going to the historical landmark called Jamestown . It was so cool. They showed us all of the sites to see at Jamestown . They were so nice to us. They let us eat inside because it was cold outside. In on of the history lessons we got to learn about the pioneers and how they traveled on the covered wagons. My favorite person who traveled in the covered wagon was Laura Illgals. She had a dog named Jack. She knew that if Jack was around she would be safe. She had a sister named Mary and she had a sister named Carrie. They started out in the big woods of Wisconsin and they ended up in the prairies of Oregon . So that is the adventures that I had in 3 rd grade. I think that all the field trips and all of the history lessons was the best part of the of my 3 rd grade at Dahlgren School . Oh, and one more thing all of the kids at Dahlgren were asked to be one of the colors of the Olympic Rings. And then we all went to the bike rack and we stood in the circles of all the Olympic Rings. It was all fun.

I Will Remember - A.P.

I liked to learn my times tables, and division. Like 64 / 8 = 8, 8 x 8 = 64. I have passed all my times tables and division. I can usually finish in 5 minutes. We start at 11:55 and finish at 12:00. That is what I will remember from 3 rd Grade.

I will remember Volley Ball because it is one of the best games I have ever played. You need 15 points to win.

I will remember Mrs. C. I will remember her because she is the best third grade teacher. She helps me with difficult problems that I don't know. Will she remember me?

Third Grade - By S. R.

One thing I will remember in third grade is learning lots about math. I enjoyed learning about math. Some of it was very hard some of it was easy. Math is usually a lot of fun. In third grade you have to do lots of math. We learned lots of things about math. Some of the things we learned in third grade about math are,

• How to do long division and how to check your division.
• The division checklist.
• Double digit multiplication, all the times tables.

And lots of problem solving, story problem solving, math packets with partners.

I really like double digit multiplication. Double digit multiplication is kind of fun. But it is kind of hard to learn. In third grade you lots of things besides math like science, social studies, and English. My class usually learns something about math everyday. But sometimes need help on math because I either don't get or it's too hard. Math in third grade is fun and I will remember what I learned in third grade but it can get very hard. One thing that I love to learn in math is money. One more thing that I learned in third grade is how to do problem solving and clues for problem solving. I really like math.
