All active duty and DoD civilian dependents from pre-K through eighth grade residing in military housing on the Dahlgren base are eligible and welcome to enroll in Dahlgren School (see Lincoln Military Housing for more information on base living). Please note the Entrance age eligibility requirement affecting Kindergarten beginning in School Year 2009-2010.
New students must also have
Virginia school physical prior to the first day of school. This includes pre-kindergarten students who must have another physical before entering kindergarten. Other returning students are not required to have a new physical; however, immunizations updates are required.
The 1991 Virginia General Assembly passed legislation requiring that all children must receive a second dose of measles vaccine before entering kindergarten or first grade. The 1992 legislation required that all children who have not yet received a second dose of measles (rubella) vaccine must receive a second dose before entering the sixth grade.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It will help Recordkeeping immensely if sponsors obtain copies of their children’s records (report cards, standardized testing, special education records (if any) and any other pertinent information such as portfolios) and HANDCARRY THESE RECORDS TO DAHLGREN WHEN REGISTERING THEIR CHILD. Do not pack these records with general household goods, but keep them somewhere accessible during the move.
