Antilles High School is a nonsectarian school operated by the Department of Defense, and is located on the property of Fort Buchanan in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Our school system is known as Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS), which is part of the Department of Defense Educational Activity known as (DoDEA) Our curriculum offers a rich variety of opportunities for all students to pursue their interests and reach their academic and professional goals. Our graduates have been accepted to some of the most prestigious colleges, including Harvard, Yale, MIT and the Unites States Service Academies, as well as many who attend the best local four-year universities. Our alumni are scattered literally around the globe, many holding positions of prominence in all fields and professions. AHS Student BodyCurrent student population: 458 students. Our student body is very diverse with predominantly native-Spanish speaking students from Puerto Rico and abroad, with many other students from the continental US and other nationalities. Our official and primary language of instruction is English, but many in our community speak Spanish as a first language. School YearOur school year consists of two semesters divided in two grading quarters; approximately 178 days for the school year. Summer school is for Special Education students qualifying for an extended instructional year. Regular school days consist of a regular schedule of seven periods, each class meets for 46 minutes and one 46 minute lunch break.
