School Policies and Procedures - Prohibited Items

Cell Phones

Students who have cellular phones or any other type of electronic communication device must keep them concealed while on school grounds from the time of the first bell to the dismissal bell at 2:15 pm.

  • Use of cell phones is prohibited on school grounds from 7:45AM – 2:15PM.  Cell phones may not be used or activated under any circumstances on school campus during those hours.
  • AHS staff and faculty will confiscate any cell phone or electronic communication device that is activated or used in school, and will turn in to the office.
  • Confiscated items may only be retrieved by the student's parent or sponsor from the Assistant Principal.
  • Parents and family members may not call students at their cell phones during school hours.
  • If a parent needs to contact a student, he/she must call the main office at (787) 707- 2301.
  • If a student needs to contact his or her parents, they may use the office phone with permission from the office staff, or use their cellular phone with administrative approval only.

Entertainment Devices

The use of communication or entertainment devices of any kind( I-Pods, CD/tape players, portable headsets, Discmans, Walkmans, personal DVD Players, Play Station Portable (PSP), electronic game device, DS)  or any other similar listening /recording/ entertaining devices is not allowed during the school day (7:40AM – 2:15PM).

  • Students may use these items only before the first bell (7:40AM) and not until after the end of the school day (2:15PM).
  • Students must deactivate/put away/conceal these items throughout the day, and keep them turned off until the end of the school day.
  • Any of these devices that are used in violation of this rule will be confiscated by the staff. 
  • Confiscated items may only be retrieved by the student's parent or sponsor from the Assistant Principal. Furthermore, AHS will not conduct searches for these items if they are lost or stolen.

Cameras

Cell phone cameras and video cameras are not to be used on school grounds without authorization. Such devices used without authorization will be subject to confiscation and will be returned to sponsors only.

Skateboards, Roller Blades, Bicycles, and Wheeled Shoes

Skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, and wheeled shoes ARE PROHIBITED on school grounds at any time. Students who bring any of these items are subject to having them confiscated, and the sponsor must pick-up from the school.

Antilles High School or any of its employees will not be responsible for confiscated devices that are misplaced or stolen while in the possession of the school, or in cases where the devices are taken or stolen from students by parties unknown.
