Furlough Announcement
The Secretary of Defense has determined that most Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees will be furloughed for up to 11 days. However, the Secretary approved for our teachers and some school level support staff to be furloughed for up to 5 days before September 30 2013.
For Ft Buchanan Schools, these five furlough days will be 23 August, 30 August, 13 September, 20 September, and 27 September. Schools will be closed for students and teachers on these five days if the furlough is enacted.
Ft Buchanan Schools will begin for students on 8 August 2013. The outstanding educators, administrators, and support staff of the New York, Virginia, Puerto Rico district remain committed to providing our students a quality educational experience and supporting our military families. Your continued support is appreciated during this time. Please contact your child's school or the District Superintendent's Office with any questions you may have at this time.
The proposedFurlough Calendar as well as the 2013-2014 school calendar is located in the Calendar tab on this website.
