Transportation Disciplinary Measures

Safety demands that students on buses be strictly disciplined at all times. Riding the school bus is a service provided by the school system. It is a privilege. The bus driver is to be obeyed. If a student does not comply with the rules as outlined in the transportation handbook, the following steps will be taken:

  • 1st offense - warning
  • 2nd offense - inform parents
  • 3rd offense - one week off the bus
  • 4th offense - two weeks off the bus
  • 5th offense - one month off the bus
  • 6th offense - suspended for the semester
  • 7th offense - suspended for remainder of school year

If the first offense is a major infraction of bus conduct, the student could be taken off the bus without following the above steps. One instance of misconduct can cause a student to lose bus-riding privileges.

The bus driver will fill out a bus referral form and forward it to the school as soon as possible, or may escort the student to the Principal or his/her designee. Disciplinary action will be administered once the incident is investigated in the presence of the student and/or bus driver.
