About Our School

Instructional Focus

Through the implementation of a school wide focus on critical thinking, all students at AMS will show growth in their ability to solve problems and communicate effectively as measured by teacher assessment and the TerraNova test.

AMS Philosophy, Purpose and Goals

The middle school is an “in-between” school that stands between the elementary school and the high school. It is designed and equipped to serve boys and girls who are between childhood and young adulthood.

Goals

The National Middle School Association recommends that every middle school should operate under the following goals:

  1. Every student should be well known as a person by at least one adult in the school who accepts responsibility for his/her guidance.
  2. Every student should be helped to achieve optimum mastery of the skills of continued learning, together with a commitment to their use and improvement.
  3. Every student should acquire a functional body of fundamental knowledge.
  4. Every student should have opportunities to explore and develop interests in aesthetic, leisure, career, and other aspects of life.

AMS is committed to fostering an environment where students are able to develop academically, emotionally, socially, and physically to their fullest potential. The curriculum, through flexibility and adaptability, will address the diverse nature of the student population in order to encourage the development of student’s self esteem in a safe and caring environment.

AMS Mission

To help students build a foundation of knowledge and the skills needed to become responsible, productive, and creative citizens in a global community.

AMS Vision

"Every child a thinker.  Every child a problem solver!"
