Class Rules

Classroom Management

On the board in the classroom we have a “GOOD JOB!” dog. Periodically throughout the day I will call on children to “clip it”. That child will take the clip with his/her name on it and clip it on the dog. This encourages a positive atmosphere and environment.  We practice “logical consequences” for our behavior and I encourage the children to self-correct when they start to make an inappropriate choice. It is important that they all see their classroom as a positive, fun place to be. All fear needs to be removed before optimal learning can occur.

HOMEWORK

  • Homework is sent home on Monday in the homework folder. All the homework is due on Friday. Sometimes the children will be given the opportunity to select a book unit  to complete in place of their usual homework. If your child brings home a book unit, at the end of each chapter have him/her retell the story details to you. This helps to build comprehension skills. While reading the story if there are any unfamiliar words have your child keep a list of those words. Help your child look up those words in the dictionary.
