Airborne Team

Every child is an essential part of the Airborne Team. The students, teachers and administration work closely together to provide a caring and nurturing environment.
Science – Investigating life, physical and earth science
- Homework is given 2 to 3 times a week.
- Tests are given on Wednesday or Thursday
Language Arts – Enhancing oral and written communication skills
- Homework is given when appropriate.
- Grammar tests are given on Fridays, other tests are given as needed.
Reading – Expanding appreciation and enjoyment of reading and literature.
- Weekly homework contracts are assigned the first day of each school week. These contracts correlate with the vocabulary in the novel or genre we are exploring at the time. DODEA standards require students to individually read at least 25 books during the sixth grade school year. Each child is expected to read a minimum of six books per quarter. Short reporting forms need to be completed and placed in the reading folder to verify the number of books read. At the end of each quarter the students will receive a test grade based on completion of this requirement.

Social Studies – Investigating the development of ancient cultures
- Homework is given as needed; study notes for tests.
- Tests are given on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Math – Applying new math skills to everyday life situations.
- Homework is given daily except Fridays. It is checked the following day, and students need to keep the homework in their notebook until Friday when it is collected and checked.
- All math work is to be shown on classwork, homework and test papers.
- Tests are given every Friday.

Resource – Meeting individual needs of students.
- Homework is given when appropriate.
- A red pen is suggested for language arts.
- Please check your child’s agenda on a daily basis.
- DODEA standards require students to individually read at least 25 books during the sixth grade school year.
- Please make sure your child is reading nightly.
- Tests/quizzes will be given when appropriate.
