All DoDEA Schools administer the CTBS Terra Nova Achievement test each spring. Fort Benning fifth and eight grade students also participate in the DoDEA Writing Assessment . Each of these tests are summarized below:
Terra Nova Multiple Assessments:
- Reflects national standards in the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
- Combines traditional multiple-choice questions with open-ended responses that require students to provide a short answer, complete a graph, or write a brief essay.
- Tests students' basic and higher-order thinking skills.
DoDEA Writing Assessment:
- Administered over three consecutive days
- Day one, prewriting, gives students the opportunity to work individually or in small groups as they come up with a variety of ideas based on their assigned writing prompt.
- Students write a draft on day two and the final copy on the third day.
