Mrs. BB's Kindergarten Class

The children may bring water and a snack to have at the end of the day. Please put a change of clothes in your child’s backpack in case of emergencies. Some children get cold during the day so please send a light sweater or jacket for your child to have during the day if needed.
Practice identifying colors, shapes, letters, letter sounds, numbers, sight words, and name at home. Also, practice writing name, letters, numbers, and sight words.

Look what we are learning. . .
We will be learning about reindeer, also known as caribou.

We will read stories about reindeer or caribou. The students will track print, read and identify sight words in mini books about reindeer.
The students will continue learning the letters and their sounds, sight words, and name recognition and spelling. They will use pictures, sight words, and phonetic spelling to read and write sentences.

Students need to practice all sight words on their sight word list.
Math:
Students will identify numbers, estimate, count, sort, graph, measure, and sequence to complete activities about reindeer. They will construct a reindeer with antlers to estimate, count, problem solve, and create patterns.
Science:
The students will identify characteristics of reindeer and their habitat including what they eat. We will conduct an experiment to demonstrate how the adaptation of shorter ears, noses, tails, and toes help the reindeer survive in the cold arctic land.
Social Studies:
Students will practice following the rules, routines, and safety measures. All students will work in cooperative groups to complete activities. The students will learn where the reindeer live in relation to their location. We will discuss the importance of reindeer related the custom of celebrating holidays in our culture.
