Reading Counts/Math Matters/PIE Kick-Off

Approximately 50 soldiers from our PIE unit, 2nd Battalion 29th Infantry Regiment, came to help us kick-off our reading initiative with the students. The soldiers participated in the retelling of a story, The King with the Terrible Temper, by acting out various characters in the story. The soldiers were a huge success and were wonderful as kings, ugly sisters, princesses, princes and galloping horses! LTC Houston welcomed all the students and was presented with a ‘PIE RULES’ sign from our Pre-K to display at the unit. We look forward to working with our PIE partners this year in the areas or reading and math. The assembly ended with everyone enjoying a snack of a moon pie to honor our PIE partners.
