Fort
Bragg Schools Competency-Based Guidance Program is focused around the
areas of Personal/Social Development, Life-Planning Skills, Academic
Development, and Promotion of Lifelong Learning, Growing and Changing.
School counselors work with students from a student maturation and developmental
approach.
The guidance curriculum focuses primarily on the affective and cognitive development of students at all grade levels. Affective developmental education is concerned with social roles, coping behaviors, and the developmental tasks of life. The student's health and full development is evidenced by his/her broadening interests along with responsible and productive functioning in school and society. To aid all students in coping with a rapidly changing world, emphasis is placed upon developing positive self-worth, fostering skills required to adapt to differing forms of environmental contact, understanding those life-planning skills necessary to make valid decisions, and understanding that learning continues throughout life to help individuals to cope with growth and change.
