Room 10

Hello Parents and Students,

READ 180 is an intensive reading intervention program designed to meet the reading needs of the students.

The program directly addresses individual needs through adaptive and instructional software, high-interest literature, and direct instruction in reading and writing skills.

McNair Elementary School is happy to have this wonderful program to help our students strengthen their reading skills.

Selected students from the 3^rd and 4^th grades will participate in this 90 minute instructional process.

The READ 180 day begins with a 20 minute block of whole-group instruction. The students divide into three groups each spending 20 minutes rotating through small-group instruction, instructional software, and modeled and independent reading. The READ180 day will end with a 10 minute time to conclude the class during whole-group wrap-up.

This program provides for continuous assessment, placement, and monitoring of each student’s progress.

I look forward to working with our students, and I am sure that this reading program will prepare each child with a rich reading experience, and enable them to be successful life-long learners!
