Class News:

·Students are working hard to master the academics for third grade. Our goals are reading comprehension; finding main idea and detail.

·In math, we continue to work on problem solving. Students should be using the UPSL model to assist in solving word problems.

·After each quarter the students are given a quarterly assessment to see what they retained from the skills taught. YOU can help by reviewing the papers as they come home and reinforcing the skills missed.

·Parents ask, “How can I help?”

Encourage him/her to read every night, not just for 20 required nights. Ask questions about the stories. Give your child a quiet place to work. Check the homework and correct any mistakes with them so that they will understand. YOU are great teachers and all students will gain so much from having that one to one attention and help. Ask them about their day!

·Please help your child be prepared for school each day by purchasing the pencils, paper, erasers, notebooks, folders, crayons and other supplies needed. Ask him/her on a regular basis if they have everything they need. Pencils and erasers do not last long.

·Supply List for 3rd grade: Pencils, erasers, notebook paper, composition books replaced if full, and 2 solid color folders with prongs and pockets.

·It would be appreciated if you would donate 1 bottle of hand sanitizer for the class. We can use alcohol based now.

·Listed below are some websites that will help your child with math and reading.
