The resource room is providing specialized small group instruction to identified children who have learning differences. Our areas of instruction are: reading, language arts and math.
We are beginning to implement the co-teach model with one kindergarten class and one third grade class. The resource teacher will go into the general education classroom and teach the students there rather than pulling them out of the classroom.
We are continuing to use the new reading program we received in January, 2009 – Read Well. This program is used with children who are below the 2.5 grade level. It addresses word attack, reading vocabulary and comprehension. The students enjoy this new program very much.
In the area of math, we are trying to follow the grade level curriculum as closely as possible. We work with the classroom teachers’ plans and modify/adapt the instruction in the small group setting.
