Mission Statement

As a teacher, I am committed to providing a safe, warm, and engaging environment that is conducive to learning for all of my students.  Our classroom mascot is the Care Bear.  It serves as a reminder for all who enter our den to show concern for the feelings and well being of others.

Den News - November 2009      Horn of Plenty

During the month of November, our focus will be on American History in social studies.  According to the first grade standards, students should be able to explain the ways in which American Indians and immigrants have helped to define American culture.  The Care Bears will proceed along a historical timeline to learn all about the events and people who have contributed to the growth and prosperity of our great nation!  As a culminating activity, the children will be encouraged to bring one small item (baby photo, toy, etc.) from their past to share at a special show-and-tell (November 24th).

Beary Special Assignment  school books

Approximately two-thirds of the class returned their home reading calendars for the month of October. These students will be recognized for their participation in Murray’s Home Reading Program at Awards Day on November 17, 2009.  Stories students read independently, as well as those read to them by a parent may be recorded on the calendar.  Reading aloud to a child provides a model of fluency and builds listening comprehension.  Keep reading with your child at home daily!  The next calendar is due on December 1st.  The Care Bears are striving for 100% participation in the home reading program every month!  We can do it with your support!
