STUDENT ACTIVITIES

The instructional program is based on an integrated curriculum model with skills taught in context.  Individual students' needs are addressed by providing hands-on experiences which are relevant to real life.  Students in grades K-4 receive instruction from specialists in art, media, music, and physical education. Clusters of computers are located in each classroom to facilitate integrated instruction. A multimedia lab featuring a variety of programs also enhances the classroom instruction.

When necessary, students are referred to specialists for evaluation and appropriate services.  A multidisciplinary team identifies students and meets their unique needs with the support of the following services:

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Gifted Education
  • Guidance
  • Homebound Instruction
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Reading
  • READ 180
  • Specific Learning Disabilities
  • Speech/Hearing Impaired
  • Visually Impaired

Other special student activities held throughout the school year are:

  • Arts Council presentations
  • Citizen of the Week
  • Field Day
  • Home Reading
  • Presidential Academic Excellence Award
  • Presidential Physical Fitness Award

This year's after school clubs are: glee club, art club, and Roaring Readers.
