Holbrook Elementary School

Welcome to Holbrook Elementary for the 2007-2008 school year. We have a very busy year planned, supporting the Holbrook community. Stop by the school and volunteer your assistance.

 

The PTA thanks everyone who has volunteered their time and talents already this year. We would not be successful in any of our endeavors without our volunteers. Please do not hesitate to stop in and be one of our volunteers. We need everyone's help to ensure our PTA continues to run smoothly and successfully.

May 13 there will be a short general PTA meeting and the spring program. Don't miss it!

Nominations for next year's officers are due on Monday, May 12. Please help us and help your children by nominating someone to become part of this "school community" - the community of volunteers. We do make a difference!

Think ahead. We need volunteers for reading to students, the book fairs, field day, baking, assisting at fund raisers, staff appreciation, assisting in the classrooms and for special projects as they arise. Join our family of volunteers and have a great time helping Holbrook make the 2008-2009 school year the best year ever.

Check out the stars on the cabinets by the cafeteria. Teachers who are seeking help with a task will post their request on a star. If you would like to offer your assistance, remove the star that interests you and contact that teacher. Requests might involve preparing materials for an art project, cutting out something for a pre-school teacher, helping with costumes for a music performance - requests will vary and you may see a different assortment of stars each time you visit Holbrook. Any assistance you give will be appreciated.

Help Holbrook out by "recycling." The PTA is collecting Box Tops for Education and labels from Campbell's products. They are also sending in empty printer ink cartridges. The extra effort benefits the children at Holbrook as the PTA supports special opportunities for the classes.

Holbrook students look forward to Popcorn Fridays. Volunteers are welcomed to help. Children reserve their popcorn by the day before the event. See the calendar for future Popcorn Fridays. The next Popcorn Friday will be May 30, 2008.

Look for fliers announcing Holbrook's pizza night at II Brothers Pizza on Reilly Road. Take your family there for a delicious meal. Tell them you are from Holbrook. Our school benefits from each meal sold. Check the calendar for future Pizza nights. They are usually the third Wednesday of the month so the next one is scheduled for May 21.

The next Book Fair will be May 14-21, 2008. The boys and girls will have lots of good choices for summer reading.

Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 27 - May 3. A luncheon for volunteers is planned for May 15. More information will follow regarding the luncheon. Holbrook truly appreciates the help we receive from our volunteers.
