Reading Counts
Second, third and fourth graders at Holbrook participate in the Reading Counts program. Reading goals are set for each individual child and parents will be informed of their child's progress regularly. First and second grade students are exposed to the Reading Counts program as the year progresses.

From October through March our students enjoy a special incentive to read each night at home. If they read at least 30 minutes a night for at least 20 nights during the month (and return the home reading calendar to verify this) they are invited to a special Mystery Reader assembly. They will also receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza and other incentives. Make it a habit to have a quiet reading time before bed each night. What a wonderful and rewarding way to relax!
