Preparing for the Future

NAEP ( The National Assessment of Education Progress) - Fourth grade students will take this reading and math assessment. For more information go to http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard or call the school guidance counselor.

DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) - First through third grade students will take this assessment twice a year. The first assessment is completed by the end of September and the second assessment will be completed by May, 2010. Kindergarten students will be assessed in the spring only.

QRI (Qualitative Reading Inventory): Fourth grade students will be assessed twice a year. The first assessment is completed by the end of September and the second assessment will be completed by May, 2010.

TerraNova Multiple Assessments (includes reading/language arts, social studies, math and science) (Dates to be announced, but are expected to be in March): Third and fourth grade students at Holbrook will participate in the TerraNova testing. These tests will provide nationally normed data on reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. It is very important that the students are in attendance each of those days - well rested and with a good, solid breakfast in their stomachs.
