Preparing for the Future

NAEP ( The National Assessment of Education Progress) - Fourth grade students will take this reading and math assessment in January 2008. For more information go to http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard or call the school guidance counselor.

DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) - First through third grade students will take this assessment twice a year. The first assessment is completed by the end of September and the second assessment will be completed by May 25, 2008. Kindergarten students will be assessed in the spring only.

QRI (Qualitative Reading Inventory): Fourth grade students will be assessed twice a year. The first assessment is completed by the end of September and the second assessment will be completed by May 23, 2008.

TerraNova Multiple Assessments (includes reading/language arts, social studies, math and science) March 11, 2008 - March 14, 2008: Third and fourth grade students at Holbrook will participate in the TerraNova testing. These tests will provide nationally normed data on reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. It is very important that the students are in attendance each of those days - well rested and with a good, solid breakfast in their stomachs.

Social Studies Criterion Referenced Test (between April 21 and May 9, 2008) - The third grade students will take this assessment during the specified week. Teachers will let parents know which day the children will be assessed.
