2006-2007
Full of energy and a love for words and poetry, David Greenberg came to Holbrook on October 19, from Portland, Oregon, to share some of his books. He has published many books, such as Slugs, Bugs!, Skunks!, Snakes!, Whatever Happened to Humpty Dumpty, and Don't Forget Your Etiquette, The Essential Guide to Misbehavior. He stressed the importance of paying attention to details. Many thanks to the Arts Council and Holbrook's PTA for providing this program for Holbrook students.

On October 24, 2006, the Holbrook staff were awarded the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching's Golden Apple Award. Dee Grantham drove down from NCCAT's campus in Cullowhee, NC to present the award.

Holbrook staff welcomed the NC DDESS Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Emily Marsh, and two elementary school teachers who discussed the principles of Guided Reading on November 1, 2006.
