On 14 May, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that most Department of Defense civilian employees will be furloughed for up to 11 days between 8 July and 30 September 2013. Teachers and other school level 9 month employees will be subject to furlough of up to five days between the beginning of the 2013-14 school year and 30 September 2013. If school furlough days are directed, specific information will be shared with the Fort Bragg Community. Schools will be closed for students on any teacher furlough days.
Fort Bragg Schools will open for students on Monday, 26 August 2013. Any required furlough days will be taken after the start of the school year. Your continued support is appreciated during these times of budgetary uncertainty. The outstanding educators, administrators, and support staff of Fort Bragg Schools remain committed to providing our students a quality educational experience and supporting our military families. Please contact the District Superintendent's Office, 910-907-0200, with any questions you may have at this time.
Emily Marsh, Superintendent
