On 14 May, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that most Department of Defense civilian employees will be furloughed for up to 11 days between 8 July and 30 September 2013. Teachers and other school level 9 month employees will be subject to furlough of up to five days between the beginning of the 2013-14 school year and 30 September 2013. If school furlough days are directed, specific information will be shared with the Fort Bragg Community. Schools will be closed for students on any teacher furlough days.

Fort Bragg Schools will open for students on Monday, 26 August 2013. Any required furlough days will be taken after the start of the school year. Your continued support is appreciated during these times of budgetary uncertainty. The outstanding educators, administrators, and support staff of Fort Bragg Schools remain committed to providing our students a quality educational experience and supporting our military families. Opening Minds to Lifelong Learning!

	Parents, students and teachers are invited to participate in 30-minute monthly programs to share information about DoDEA Schools. DoDEA Director Marilee Fitzgerald provides important information on topics of interest for our parents, students, and stakeholders.
	Take a minute to become familiar with the attendance policy of the DoDEA School System. All DoDEA Schools adhere to the same attendance policy to provide consistent guidelines no matter where you and your family are transferred.
	Preventing bullying is a major concern for all of the DoDEA Schools. Learn what we are doing to put an end to bullying in our schools and communities and what you can do to support our efforts as we provide a safe envirionment for your children.
	DoDEA has adopted the use of Common Core Standards. The standards, applied systemwide, will ease the transition as our students transfer between DoDEA schools with parent relocations. They will ensure that your your child has access to the same eduation worldwide.
