About Our School
Irwin School was named in memory of Lieutenant General Stafford LeRoy Irwin, who served as Post Commander of Fort Bragg from July 11, 1946 to October 31, 1948. General Irwin retired from the Army in 1952 with thirty-seven years service.
Irwin currently serves 5th and 6th grade students from the entire Ft. Bragg community. The Irwin educational staff consists of 30 classroom teachers. There are Art, Music and Band, and Physical Education teachers, as well as a teacher serving the Gifted population, an ESL teacher serving the bilingual population, and several teachers serving the Special Needs population.
Irwin also has a full time nurse, an information specialist, and two counselors on our staff.
Irwin has a very active Parent Teacher Organization, that is always looking for more volunteers.
