Some Concepts of Print Activities


 
 

Discuss the proper way to hold a book with your child.

Talk about the author and the illustrator and what he/she does for the story.

Point to the words as you read them.
 

Attention

There will be a student holiday on Monday, October 12th.
There will be no school for students on Friday October 30, 2009 due to Professional Development Day for staff.



Literacy

Students will be introduced to the sight words:
a, I, can, see, the, go, like, and my

We are learning how to write letters, and making the sounds that the letters make.  We will also work daily in our writing journals using various symbols to represent print.  Students will begin learning the habits that beginning readers use such as: one-to-one matching to words, holding a book properly and retelling stories.
 

Math

This month students will learn math concepts such as: top, middle, bottom, inside, outside, above, below, left and right. We will also work on number formation for numerals 0-10.
