Effective communication, both oral and written, is the focal point of the Language Arts Program. The complexity of today's society requires that an effective program in the communications skills be available to all students. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing are all components of the communication process. The Language Arts Program provides opportunities for the development of these skills.

Using a standards based model of instruction, lessons will reflect a balanced approach to reading, writing, listening and speaking instruction. They include multiple experiences with literature, and intentional and sequential instructions in skills especially phonics and spelling.
