Fort Bragg Schools Special Education Programs provides service to:

  • Eligible three-year-olds with special needs
  • Eligible four-year-olds attending Prekindergarten classes at Fort Bragg Schools
  • Students with current Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) from any Department of Defense Education Activity  
  • Students determined eligible for Special Education Services after entering Fort Bragg Schools

Section 2164, Title 10, USC and DoD Directive 1342.16 establish explicit enrollment eligibility rules for Department of Defense Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS). The enrollment eligibility rules require that in order for a military member or federal civilian employee to be eligible to enroll their children in a DDESS Arrangement in the United States, the military member or federal employee must reside in permanent living quarters on a military installation, or be in possession of a letter from the On-Post Housing Office indicating that permanent living quarters will be available in ninety (90) days.

  • Speech Language Therapy
  • Transportation
  • Orientation and Mobility
  • Psychological Services
  • School Social Work Services
  • Programming to meet the needs of:
    • Learning Impaired
    • Hearing Impaired
    • Visually Impaired
    • Emotionally Impaired
    • Physically Impaired
    • Developmentally Impaired

TO ACCESS SERVICES:

For children ages 3-5 but not yet enrolled in Prekindergarten or Kindergarten, with current IEPs or IFSPs
, bring the following items with you to the Special Education Programs Office:

  • Proof of Housing
  • IEP/IFSP
  • Previous Assessment Information
  • Sponsor and Child's Social Security Numbers

For three-year-olds who have previously received special education services, bring the following items with you to the Special Education Programs Office:

  • Proof of Housing
  • Sponsor and Child's Social Security Numbers

For children currently enrolled in Prekindergarten in a Fort Bragg School, contact the Prekindergarten teacher to discuss your concerns.  When directed to do so, bring the following items to the Special Education Programs Office:

  • Sponsor and child's Social Security Numbers
  • Teacher's name
  • School name

For students with current IEPs from a Department of Defense Education Activity:

  • Present letter from Housing Office to Fort Bragg Schools' Superintendent's Office
  • Enroll at the school in your neighborhood
  • Present to the school a copy of the IEP, assessment data and eligibility determination

For students with current IEPs from non-DoDEA Schools:

  • Present letter from Housing Office to Fort Bragg Schools' Superintendent's Office
  • Enroll at the school in your neighborhood
  • Present to the school a copy of the IEP, assessment data and eligibility determination
