Dear parents and students,
Here are some questions for you to consider:
- Can learning still be fun despite testing mandates?
- Can students be intrinsically motivated to accomplish assignments?
- Can the infusion of technology make learning more relevant?
- Will students enjoy writing and solving math problems?
- Can the relationships between teachers, students, aides, administrators and parents all work positively together to create a “community of learners” atmosphere at a school?
- Can a school specialize in supporting military children and their families educationally and emotionally?
Many of these goals are being met at Pope Elementary and the others are in progress. With the strong partnerships we enjoy with the parents and the Pope/ Ft. Bragg communities we are creating a learning environment that meets the needs of the whole child.
Pope Elementary has the flavor and feeling of being a small, hometown, school where students are known by name by most of the adults in the building. We have the privilege of hosting two fifth grade and two pre-k classes for the Linden Oaks Community until their new school is ready in December of this year. We want them to feel included here until they become a unified school community when they have their move-in experience.
I’m looking forward to another great year of parent, student, teacher, community partnerships that promote our ability to learn together as a school community of caring and exciting achievement.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bob Kirkpatrick
