Room 8 Pre-K Fabulous Fish

Behavior Management System

fish

Every child starts with their fish in the ocean. If the child makes choices that are not acceptable, he/she will be asked to move their fish onto the fishing pole (This is only a warning). If the child's fish is on the fishing pole and he/she continues to make unacceptable choices, Mrs. Flynn or Mrs. Bear will ask the child to put his/her fish into the frying pan. When a fish is in the frying pan, the child loses 3 to 4 minutes of recess.

If the child still continues to make unacceptable choices, Mrs. Flynn or Mrs. Bear will ask the child to get their fish from the frying pan and put it on Mrs. Flynn's desk. Mrs. Flynn will then speak with the Mom or Dad about their child's behavior that day.

* Fishes start in the ocean everyday, regardless of behavior the previous day.

*Children are given verbal cues and warnings to correct unacceptable behavior before they are asked to move their fish from the ocean to the fishing pole.

Please ask your child about his or her day. Ask if their fish stayed in the ocean. If it did not, ask your child why and discuss making good choices the next day.

Below are just some examples of behavior that would result in a child moving his/her fish from the ocean to the fishing pole.

*not keeping his/her hands to themselves

* not cleaning up center

*not doing what he/she has been asked to do by Mrs. Flynn or Mrs. Bear

*putting their hands on another person

*Repeatedly leaving centers without cleaning-up (this is a big one!)

*Talking while the teacher is talking
