The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) College Opportunities Online (COOL) is a way of finding out about a specific college or set of colleges. If you are not sure what colleges might be of interest to you, IPEDS COOL has the tools to help you in your search. Just added is the ability to search by zip code radius. You can also search for a college based upon its location, program, degree offerings (either combined or alone). The more criteria you specify, the smaller the number of colleges meeting your criteria. COOL’s website address is: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cool/ New Season of On-Line college Fairs Log on to: www.onlinecollegefair.com between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Over 70 colleges and universities will be presented and will be discussing admissions requirements, financial aid, campus environment, and much more. The Common Application Using the "Common Application" is by far one of the easiest methods of applying to a college. More than 200 colleges and universities accept this application. If you are applying to five schools and all the schools are listed, you only have to complete the application once. The Common Application online Web address is: http://www.commonapp.org Embark www.embark.com website has a section called "College Matchmaker which can be invaluable to students and parents in deciding what type of post secondary program/school best suits them.
