Fort Campbell Schools Dress Code Guidelines
School Year 2007-2008
Introduction
Students are expected to dress in a manner that neither distracts from the learning atmosphere of our school nor interferes with the instructional process. Careful grooming and appropriate dress are important factors
in the student’s development of a wholesome personality, positive self-concept, and acceptance by others. In addition, attire and grooming influence the behavior of students. Students are encouraged to treat school as a place of business and to dress accordingly while in the building and/or on the campus.
The dress code is designed to ensure the health and safety of students, and to avoid distractions to the educational process. Students are required to wear school-approved uniforms. These uniforms may be purchased in the approved colors at the PX or other stores. Parents or sponsors desiring to make purchases elsewhere may do so provided the color and the style replicate the standardized dress. Clothing must be neither too large nor too small. Oversize clothing is not to be worn. Students must be in dress code when they enter the building and remain in dress code until they leave the building.
Colors: Tops: any solid color.
Bottoms/Dresses: Khaki, Navy, Gray, Dark Green, or Black (Solid Color)
Acceptable Fabrics: Cotton, Corduroy, or Wool. NO Spandex (or other stretch
material), Nylon, Denim, Leather, or Leather like material is allowed .
GIRLS
Skirts must fall at a length that is appropriate for school. Generally that is approximately 3 to 4 inches above the knee (both front and back). The final determination of skirt length falls to the judgment of school administrators.
BOYS and GIRLS
The following are not acceptable: Cargo (pants with leg pockets) or five pocket pants, overalls, painter pants, denim jeans or jean style pants in any color, spandex pants, pants with draw strings or excessive flair bottoms, sagging pants, or any clothing that is excessively tight, baggy, or revealing.
Accessories must not detract from the intent of the dress code. Students should avoid any extremes in appearance that draw attention to oneself or distract from the learning of others, such as exaggerated grooming, extremes in hair color, and body art. Body piercings are limited to ear lobes. Shoes must be worn at all times.
The administration reserves the right to prohibit a particular item of clothing if it is not specifically covered by this policy, but is deemed to cause sufficient concerns regarding the appropriateness or the security of our school. Because the teenage years are a time of rapid physical change, clothing items purchased for school at the beginning of the year may not remain appropriate due to growth. If there is some question as to the appropriateness of certain apparel, the student should wear something else. Students are encouraged to ask before wearing a garment that might be determined as inappropriate.
Students, who come to class in inappropriate dress, as determined by any faculty member, will be detained in ISS, until they have changed into proper clothing. If immediate correction cannot be made, the ISS supervisor will assist in obtaining the student(s)’ assignments so the time spent in ISS can be productive in nature.
Dress Code Enforcement (schoolwide):
First Offense: Verbal Warning with Correction
Second Offense: Referral with Correction (Administrative Warning)
Third Offense: Referral with Correction (After School Detention)
Fourth Offense: Referral with Correction (After School Detention X 2)
Fifth Offense: Referral with Correction (Administrator/Parent Conference, Saturday School)
Additional Offenses: Correction and one more Saturday School than the previous level.
After School Dress Guidelines
The dress code is not as structured for activities which occur after the school day (sports events, dances, etc.) However; conventional dress, without extremes or unusual styles, with all clothing worn properly, is expected. The type and style of dress should fit the occasion. Because of changing fashions and current trends in style, no list can be inclusive. However, the following list will serve as a guide:
The following days have been designated at Jeans & T-shirt days. These days are subject to change or cancellation.
Please follow the guidelines for jeans that are posted in each classroom. You must wear the T-shirt designed and sold by Student Council this year to participate in the Jeans & T-shirt days.

On Jeans and T-Shirt Days you will not be required to wear a collared shirt under this T-Shirt.
Dress code pants and skirts or appropriate jeans and jean skirts are the only pant/skirt styles that will be allowed on Jeans and T-shirts days. Jeans and jean skirts must follow the criteria stated below. If the jeans do not fit the following criteria and/or the student does not wear this
