School Board Elections

As per DoD Instruction 1342.25, the Fort Campbell Schools have an elected school board which functions in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent. Members of the board serve two-year terms with unlimited consecutive terms.

To run for a position on the school board, an individual must reside on the military installation and may not be a DDESS employee. Additionally, the candidate must live in the housing area he/she seeks to represent.

School board representational areas have been expanded from seven districts to nine. This change will take place with the 07/08 election cycle. The new representational district composition follows :

Candidates may pick up and return a nominating petition at their child's school during normal business hours. The petition requires one signature from a person residing in the same voting district. The petition must be filed during the period of 1-29 June.

The school board election will be held this fall. Parents will be notified of the specific dates and times prior to the election. This year, each parent is allowed two votes. Voters elect a representative from their district or housing area and then they may vote for the Member at Large. For example, those living in District #1 ( Lee Village ) vote only for candidates from District #1 and the Member at Large.

The outcome of the election will be posted at the Fort Campbell Schools Central Office and at each school site. Each candidate will be personally notified of election results.
