Parent Involvement
This is an important part of the education process at Jackson. When parents are meaningfully involved in their children’s education, children achieve at a higher level and have a more positive attitude toward school.
PARENT-TEACHER ORGANIZATION
The purpose of the PTO is to solicit cooperation among parents, students, teachers, and the administrators of Jackson Elementary School in order to provide the best possible learning environment for students attending the school, to support school programs, and to promote progress according to the school goals. All parents are encouraged to join the PTO.
SCHOOL VISITS
Parents and visitors are always welcome at Jackson. However, as a safety measure, we ask that all visitors first report to the front desk and obtain a visitor’s pass to the building. You will be asked to leave your keys at the front desk. You may pick up your keys when you return your visitor’s badge. We encourage you to visit your child at school. You may arrange for a classroom visit by contacting your child’s teacher. You may also request a parent-teacher conference at any time.
SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers enable us to expand our educational programs as well as to allow for greater individual attention. Volunteers work at Jackson School on a daily basis. There are many areas in which we need volunteer help: The library, classroom, field trips, art room and special PTO activities. Throughout the year you will be given the opportunity to help. Contact your child’s teacher or the school office if there is something you would like to do for us. WE NEED YOU!
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
The primary purpose of the parent conference is to provide a scheduled time for the home and school to share specific information about a child’s personal and academic growth. It recognizes the joint responsibility shared by parents and teachers in helping children learn.
Parent Teacher conferences are regularly scheduled in the Fall and as needed. Teachers and/or parents are encouraged to schedule conferences at other times throughout the year, whenever either feels it might be beneficial to their child.
