Transportation

Bus transportation schedules will be posted in the “Courier”, the post newspaper, prior to the opening of school.  No student who resides within one mile of school is eligible for transportation.  All transportation schedules and bus stops are determined by the transportation contractor, telephone 431-6213.

PreK/Kindergarten:  School Board Policy requires that a parent, guardian or person authorized by the parent of an Early Childhood Student provide a safe supervision to and from the bus stop.  No Early Childhood student will be left unattended at the point of delivery (Bus Stop).  If no responsible party is in view, the student will not be allowed to disembark.  The student will be returned to the school site where an attempt will be made to contact a responsible party.

WALKERS AND BIKE RIDERS

            Traffic congestion has grown progressively heavier year by year with numerous incidences of “near-miss” accidents.  For that reason we do not recommend that students ride their bikes or walk to Hammond Heights, Stryker Village, Turner Loop, Sergeant Major Village or Drennan Park.  IF family circumstances dictate otherwise, we will approve on an emergency basis, a written parent request to permit a child to walk or ride a bicycle.  This request must be approved by a building administrator and is subject to immediate cancellation should the student fail to observe post safety rules and regulations.

BUS GUIDELINES

Bus Rules
1.  Observe the same conduct as in the classroom.
2.  Be courteous, use no profane language.
3.  Do not eat or drink on the bus.
4.  Keep the bus clean.
5.  Cooperate with the driver.
6.  Do not smoke.
7.  Do not be destructive.
8.  Stay in your seat.
9.  Keep head, hands, and feet inside the bus.
10. Bus driver is authorized to assign seats.
11. No radios, tape players, or head phones.

Elementary Procedures
1.  First Offense:  Students are counseled and/or misconduct notices sent home.
2.  Second Offense:  Students are counseled, misconduct notice is sent home, and parents are notified by phone.
3.  Third Offense:  Notify parents of suspension from 1-3 days from the bus.
4.  Extreme misconduct or repeated offenses (fighting, etc.):  Automatic suspension from the bus.
