Enrichment Classes

The purpose of the enrichment program at Mahaffey Middle School is to have relatively brief introductory courses for beginners, with longer more intensive courses available to older students. Sixth grade students take nine weeks of the following of the following choices: Spanish, Computer Applications, Instrumental Music, Chorus, and Art. The same components, with the addition of Video Production, are available to seventh graders for nine weeks and to eighth graders for eighteen weeks. Beginning and Intermediate Band are offered at all three grade levels. Students are required to take a year long Wellness component.

Technology

Technology has become an important component of the educational program at Mahaffey Middle School. Technology is being incorporated into all aspects of the school. A networked Computer Lab is available for student use. Mahaffey's Media Center also has 29 networked computers for student use throughout the day. Each student has access to our network through their individual login. Students also have email accounts which allows them to communicate with their teachers. A local area network allows numerous management tasks to be completed on the computer. All classroom teachers have 21st century classrooms which allows technology in a variety of formats to be a natural part of the educational process. The faculty at MMS strives to help students develop technology skills that are necessary in today's world.
