Mahaffey Middle School Improvement Plan
2006-2007

2007-2008 Plan is currently being reworked through the AdvancEd Program

Goal 1: HIGHEST STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
All students will meet or exceed challenging standards in academic content so that they are prepared for continuous learning and productive citizenship.

Outcome A: Student Performance and Assessment
All students will achieve or exceed proficiency levels aligned to clearly defined program and curricular performance standards. Individual student progress will be continuously measured using multiple internal and external performance-based assessments.

School-wide Academic Focus: To improve reading comprehension by developing the ability to compare and contrast in all related curriculum areas

Related Curriculum Standard(s): (E2e, M3, M5, M6, SS2, SS3, FL3 and S1) The student demonstrates logical reasoning and problem solving through comparing and contrasting.

Goal 1 A: HIGHEST STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, Student Performance and Assessment
Strategy #: 1 Students will read with more comprehension using the skill of comparing and contrasting.
Strategy Title/Description: Compare and Contrast

Goal 1 B: HIGHEST STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, Student Performance Assessment
Strategy #1: 1 Students will read with more comprehension using the skill of engage reading in all content areas using note-taking.
Strategy Title/Description:
Engaged Reading using note-taking

Outcome B: Opportunities to Learn and Citizenship
All students will have access to varied and challenging learning opportunities and appropriate interventions and/or modifications to ensure continuous learning and productive citizenship.

School wide Academic Focus: To achieve high performance levels in all grade and curricular areas using instructional differentiation

Related Curriculum Standard(s): (M5 and S1) The student demonstrates logical reasoning and problem solving.

Goal 1 B: Highest Student Achievement: Opportunities to Learn and Citizenship
Strategy #1: Students will learn according to their personal learning style.
Strategy Title/Description: Provide differentiated instruction to meet grade students learning styles; incorporate the Four Columns Method into lesson planning.

The DoDEA workforce will be motivated, diverse, and committed to continuous professional growth and development resulting in exemplary performance and optimum student achievement.

Every level of DoDEA will develop, promote, and maintain a network of partnerships to enhance optimum student achievement.
