What's Happening in Mrs. SH's and Mrs. S.'s Kindergarten Room 142

You are such wonderful parents! You take the time to invest in your child's future and education. The time that you invest now will significantly affect success in school and life. You are saying that your child's education is important to you. Keep up the great work!

Reminders

Tuesday is Library Day. Please help your child to remember to return his/her library book so a new one can be checked out.

Wednesday is Share Day.

Look at what we're learning!

Reading

We are studying the following letters this quarter:  Ll, Oo, Gg, Hh, Tt, Pp, Aa,Nn, and Mm.  Each week your child brings home a word list that uses the sounds that we have had in Kindergarten. Please ask your child to practice sounding out and blending these sounds into words. When you have practiced reading, please send the list back to school. I read these with your child and he/she receives a treat.

This quarter we are learning to read these color words: red, blue, green, orange, yellow, purple, brown, and black.  You can make flash cards with these and practice at home.

Every time you or your child reads a book or booklet, write it down on the "Read to Me" Book List. The children get to go to the prize bowl when the list is full.

Math

In math this quarter we are learning our numbers from 0 through 10.  We are also practicing position words such as: left, right, over, under, behind, beside, in front, in between, top, middle, or bottom.  We are enjoying creating patterns.

Science

We are discussing our five senses and how we use different parts of our body to gather information about our surroundings.

Health

We have been talking about how to wash our hands, use a tissue for our nose, and use hand sanitizer to prevent the spread of llness.
