What We Are Learning In October & November

Reading:  The best way to work with your child's vocabulary and reading skills is to read to them nightly.  Discuss the story and the sequence.

Language: Review the letters and sounds that we have covered this quarter:Ll, Oo, Gg, Hh, Tt, Pp, Aa, Nn,

2nd quarter we will cover these:Mm,Ii,Ss,Ff,Rr,

Kk,Bb,Uu,Zz

Blend the sounds together to read words.  h/a/t 

Practice your 1st quarter popcorn words: red, blue, green, orange, yellow, purple, brown, black, see, I, the 

These are called popcorn words or sight words because they pop up in all stories.

2nd Quarter words:pink,white,I,am,little,a,to,

Math:1st quarter: practice counting, writing numbers, and counting objects

2nd quarter:graphs,counting objects to 20,identifying numbers 11-20,ordinal numbers(first-tenth),writing the missing numbers,objects alike&different,sort,classify

Fine Motor: Working on tying shoes, buttoning, and zipping clothing. Please join our Shoe Tie Club, practice, practice,and practice at home.We want you to be a member.Your child needs to do this independently. 

Writing Ideas: Please practice writing our name with correct letter formation. Make sentences together using popcorn and phonic words.

Our day is filled with structured academics with many opportunities for "hands on" activities using centers, stations, and labs.
