We now have 21 students in our classroom. Now we are learning new letters, sounds and words.

Please send your child with a towel for rest time.

Reading:

We are reading beginning readers in our class. Below is a list of sight words that you can work on with your child at home.

There are some web sites on the bottom of this page to help with reading.

Grammar:

We have started writing words and sentences. The children are able to hear initial sounds in words. We are be working on matching sounds and letters. Eventually, they will be expected to sound words phonetically.

Spelling:

We are spelling the sight words from the list given under reading. We are learning to spell basic consonant words.

Math:

We have done sequencing, sorting, graphing, and counting. We will continue these concepts while learning new ones. Our class is now learning to classify according to characteristics.

Social Studies:

We have discussed how animals, machines, and people help people. We have discussed the names of machines that help people.

Health:

Small Group Time

We have been working in small groups. Recently, we have moved to reading independently. This will give each child the support they need before we move back to small group reading. The focus skills are sound recognition, initial sounds, sight words, and context clues.
