Job Summary
The Department of Defense Domestic
Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is
currently accepting applications under examining authority
of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164, for position(s) in DDESS
School Districts. This vacancy announcement may be used
for the purpose of filling multiple permanent and/or
temporary, full time and/or part-time seasonal teaching
positions throughout School Year 2008/2009. Temporary
positions may be converted to permanent without further
competition, but conversion to permanent is not guaranteed.
Major Duties
The teacher plans, develops and
organizes long and short range goals, objectives, lesson
plans, and daily class work. Presents information and
instruction which help students learn subject matter
and skills that will contribute to their educational
and social development; has an instructional plan which
is compatible with the school and system-wide curricular
goals; interacts effectively with students, coworkers,
and parents; carries out non-instructional duties as
assigned and/or as needed; adheres to established laws,
and policies, rules, and regulations; and follows a plan
for professional development. Exercises continuous surveillance
over the educational welfare of assigned students by
working with school counselors, specialists, administrators,
and/or school psychologists in resolving learning and
behavioral problems of students. Seeks advice from the
principal on matters of concern in carrying out professional
responsibilities.
Qualifications
Type II: U.S. Citizens who are
recent College Graduates. (i.e., have graduated within
the past 18 months from the opening date of this announcement,
and have one full school year or less teaching experience
as of the opening date of this announcement.)
Applicants MUST hold a current (valid) professional teacher
certificate issued by a U.S. State Department of Education,
the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA),
or a U.S. Commonwealth or U.S. territory in category
and grade level of interest in order to be considered
under this announcement. Applicants must have satisfactorily
completed, in a regionally accredited educational institution,
all the requirements for a four year degree. Failure
to furnish complete, accurate information will lead to
loss of employment opportunity and will not be considered
basis for grievance or appeal.
NOTE: If the applicant is a
recent college graduate and the Teaching Certificate
has not been received, the applicant must submit a letter
from the university or State Department of Education
stating the certificate has been requested and the student
has COMPLETED/MET all the requirements
for state certification.
Applicants will only be considered for the
categories listed on their current, valid teacher certificate(s).
- If an applicant is interested in a category not currently
on their certificate they will need to obtain that
certification prior to being considered for it.
- If the certificate does not state
specific categories (i.e., teaching titles and/or
grades) then the applicant will be responsible for
obtaining and providing the information from the
certifying state or Commonwealth to specify the categories
and/or grades that the certificate covers before
they will receive consideration.
How You Will Be Evaluated
BASIS OF RATING: Applicants
meeting the qualification requirements will be evaluated
on experience, education and training as it relates to
the Major Duties above. Recency of experience, education
and training as related to modern teaching techniques
will be a factor in evaluating applicants. When describing
experience, specific grade level and subject matter taught
should be indicated on the application. Annotate 'N/A'
(not applicable) for those items in the application that
do not apply unless instructions indicate otherwise.

resume describing work experience may be submitted
with the application as long as the first and
last pages of the DDESS application are completed/submitted
as well. (i.e.; Job Title, From/To Dates, Salary,
Hours per week, Employers Name, and Supervisor’s
name and phone number.) Resumes received without
the required first and last pages of the Application
for Employment with DDESS will NOT be considered.
- Photocopy of all OFFICIAL college/university
transcripts (front and back) with announcement number
stated on them. To receive the maximum allowable
credit you must include all transcripts (front and
back) for each degree earned to include any additional
courses currently in progress. Any transcripts submitted
that are not in English or not official will be removed
from the application and will not be considered.
(Transcripts must be in English.)
- Copy of current/valid Teaching Certificate in English
(front and back). Teaching certificate must verify
that applicant is certified in the area of interest.
To meet this requirement you must include the entire
teaching certificate in English to include the front
and back and it must indicate current certification
in area of interest. Any teaching certificates submitted
that are not in English, which do not indicate current
certification in the area of interest, and which
do not include both the front and back of the certificate
will be removed from the application and will not
be considered. (Teaching Certificate must be in English.) NOTE: If
the applicant is a recent college graduate and the
Teaching Certificate has not been received, the applicant
must submit a letter from the university or State
Department of Education stating the certificate has
been requested and the student has COMPLETED/MET all
the requirements for state certification.

preference must submit a copy of DD-214 (copy
member 4 required), Certificate of Release or
