The Internet Public Library has a huge collection of literary criticism, searchable by time period and author.  The Internet Public Library is a public service organization and a learning/teaching environment founded at the University of Michigan School of Information and hosted by Drexel University's College of Information Science & Technology.

Bartleby Books- A huge collection of free online books. Offers a brief biography for each author and a number of other services including lists of quotes and a thesaurus. Books are viewable online and are also downloadable.
