What's Happening in Mrs. M's Class?
Reminders
First day of school for the 2008-2009 school year is Thurday, August 21. Check with the school for a supply list for my class.
Fifth grade will be changing classes next year as we did this year. Mrs. J. will be teaching writing. Mrs. M. will be teaching social studies, and Mrs. W. will be teaching science. Each teacher will teach their homeroom the subjects of reading and math.
Since we change classes, the agendas become a very important communication tool. Parents should check agendas every day to make sure that your student keeps up with daily assignments. This also lets you know ahead about upcoming tests or projects.
Homework:
Reading: It is very important that your child continues to read during the summer months.
Spelling:
Math: Work with your child on basic math skills. Give them problems that relate to what you may be doing. Show them how important math is in everyday life.
Social Studies:
How Parents Can Help Students!

2. Don't do the work for your child, but give help if needed.
3. Encourage students to study.
4. Help your child to learn and study the multiplication tables.
5. Hold your child accountable for reading 30 minutes each night.
