Pandemic Influenza Information Gaggle.net Accounts Now Available for Classroom Use Gaggle.net accounts are now available for our students and teachers to use. DoDEA provides this service for all of its schools. “What is Gaggle.net?” Gaggle.net is an online service provided to our schools which hosts a safely monitored and controlled environment to allow electronic communication and collaboration while learning in the classroom and at home. Students can utilize their own email accounts, store their work in digital lockers, and create their own online electronic portfolios called “Profile Pages.” Using gaggle.net has enabled us to extend our learning community throughout the entire world! Not only have we been able to communicate with friends and family; but have also been able to share our work with them. This allows students’ families to always be a part of their lives, even if they are away. Each year we observe that using Gaggle.net on a consistent basis does improve the ability of students to read, write, speak, type, and think. Teachers who maintained Gaggle.net blogs last year were able to share classroom news and information with parents and others. Students who maintained blogs became authors and teachers by posting entries and sharing work for others to read and learn from. Presently, we are working hard learning the basics of online safety and etiquette, and how to use the Gaggle.net service. As the year progresses, not only will we be using Gaggle.net email for communication, but also be posting our work and learning experiences at school on our profile pages and blogs. Our boys and girls (and teachers) are looking forward to sharing these with you. Parents will be receiving a brochure describing the gaggle.net service in our school newsletter. If you have any questions, or desire additional information, please feel free to contact the school, or visit the Gaggle.net website at www.gaggle.net.. We are excited about using Gaggle.net, grateful for having access to it, and all are encouraged to utilize the resources it has to offer. GradeSpeed Parent Connection---DoDEA implemented GradeSpeed in its 4th-6th grade classrooms worldwide during the 2008-2009 school year. GradeSpeed will give parents online access to their children’s grades and attendance from anyplace in the world with internet access. An introductory GradeSpeed Brochure will be sent home with students. The Parent Connection User Guide is available for downloading. You can access the GradeSpeed Parent Portal here. Additional information can be found here. Student Connection GradeSpeed Accounts Are Now Available For All Pinckney Students Using the Student Connection Portal, students can now have access to view their assignments and grades anytime they need to do so. Each student has a user name and unique password that will allow them to access the portal. Using the Student Connection will provide students with the opportunity to remain up-to-date with what their assignments are, when they are due, and their current grade status for each subject. It is very similar to the Parent Connection Portal that parents can access GradeSpeed. Parents may contact their child’s homeroom teacher to request activation of their accounts. Please call the school for additional information regarding the GradeSpeed Student Connection.
